The Orient Express arrives in Monte Carlo in May 2027

Published

Monaco has a new way to arrive. From May 2027 the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, Belmond's luxury train of the 1920s, runs overnight from Paris to Monte Carlo, the first journey to end in the Principality; the inaugural departure leaves Paris on 10 May 2027, and Belmond plans it as a yearly journey.

The train leaves Paris in the afternoon, with dinner in the restaurant cars Étoile du Nord and L'Oriental and a night in the Art Deco cabins. Breakfast is served on board as it runs along the French Riviera, past the red rocks of the Estérel, Saint-Raphaël, Cannes and Nice, before it enters Monaco-Monte-Carlo station, cut into the rock, the next morning.

Guests choose a historic cabin, a suite or a Grand Suite, or L'Observatoire, the private carriage made with the artist JR, with its bedroom, bathroom with a freestanding bath, library and hidden tearoom. Of every luxury train Europe has to offer, it is now the most glamorous way to reach the Côte d'Azur.

The Mediterranean Season Letter

Where to be, every season

Four letters a year, one for each season: the Mediterranean from spring to autumn, and Beyond the Mediterranean, into the Alps, in winter. The one best hotel to book, and the events worth crossing a sea for.
