Four new journeys through Italy for 2027

Published

Italy's own luxury train adds four new journeys for 2027. La Dolce Vita Orient Express, whose cabins and suites recall the Italy of the 1960s and 1970s in the designs of Dimorestudio, with dining overseen by the chef Heinz Beck, now offers a Truffle Route to Alba and the Langhe hills of Piedmont, the country of white truffles, Barolo and Barbaresco.

An Italian Wine Route links the vineyards of Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast with Verona, a new journey from Rome to Venice stops in Bolgheri on the way, and a grand tour runs from Rome to Portofino, Venice and Florence. Guests leave Rome from the train's private lounge, with transfers included.

Of every luxury train in Europe, it is the slow way to Italy's great wine and food regions: wine tasting in Tuscany, and truffle hunting in Piedmont in the autumn.

Where to be, every season

Four letters a year, one for each season: the Mediterranean from spring to autumn, and Beyond the Mediterranean, into the Alps, in winter. The one best hotel to book, and the events worth crossing a sea for.
